Dr. Dewey DixonThe Doctors

Dewey G. Dixon, D.C., C.C.S.P.

Doctor of Chiropractic
Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner

Dr. Dewey Dixon is a local. He has been a resident of Pulaski County, having lived in Mounds and Olmsted, all of his life. He graduated from Meridian High School, attended Shawnee Community College while at Meridian. He also attended University of Tennessee at Martin, and SEMO before receiving a Bachelor of Science at Logan College of Chiropractic in 1982 and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in August 1983.

From September ’83 to June ’84 he practiced with Dr. William H. Bagbey in Mounds. Dr. Bagbey had been in practice well over 30 years at the time Dr. Dixon purchased the practice from him in July 1984.

In June 2000 the office moved from its old location at 225 First Street, to its present location, at 426 S. Blanche.

Dr. Dixon takes several post-graduate programs every year. In 1999 He completed the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician program (C.C.S.P.) in St. Louis. After completion of the required hours and successful passing of the exam, the CCSP is now attached.

I enjoy working with local athletes as well as students from Shawnee Community College. He has treated students from Meridian HS, Cairo HS, Century HS, Egyptian HS, Anna-Jonesboro HS, Vienna HS, Cobden HS, Goreville HS, Shawnee HS, Dongola HS, Joppa HS, Cape Notre Dame, Ballard HS, and numerous grade school programs.

Dr. Dixon lives just north of Mounds on a farm with his wife Stephanie. They have two sons, Tyler and Brady. Tyler is a Graduate Student at Murry State University and a Graduate Assistant at The Murry State News in Murry, KY. Brady is on the Golf Team at SIUE in Edwardsville, IL.

I have coached little league baseball and coached, as well as refereed, Upward Basketball in Cairo.

My hobbies include hunting (mostly with a bow), coaching, playing golf, and spending time with his buddies at “The Cabin” for various hunts.

I do not have one of those last resort Chiropractic stories, nor do I have a “painful” injury that responded well to care. When I was 8 years old I made my first trip to a Chiropractor. Not for any illness or accident. My neighbors’ mother would take her kids to the chiropractor to get adjusted and they rarely “got sick”. Thank goodness my mother recognized this fact and took me as well. The rest is history; all I EVER wanted to be was a Chiropractor since then.
